Dan is awesome!! He definetly knows his stuff!! He has a great eye for finding a bike that fits your needs perfectly!! Literally my favorite bike shop!! I love my bike and the service was wonderful!! Highly recommend this bike shop!!
NEWSFLASH BRO!! You work in a bike shop, you're not an astronaut!! Ok, maybe you own the place, even worse, that means you can't afford to hire someone so you can go out and play. The trail you so adamantly wanted to protect was crap. Trash everywhere, not the typical Missouri redneck trash either, bike tubes, water bottles, and broken down obstacles everywhere. You, as the local bike shop, should be the ones to take care of this place. Maybe try taking some pride in ownership and try cleaning it up. God knows it would ride better with a bit more traffic.
The guy was incredibly rude and impatient with my questions. If you are new to cycling, STEER CLEAR. There are way better bike shops out there. This place is a joke.
Despite us taking up his time, he did all of this and didn't charge us a penny, so we bought him a 6 pack for the shop fridge. Top notch service, great local knowledge, and a really nice guy. They also sell a bunch of fireworks! Highly recommend.
I cannot believe these guys stay in business! I've been there before today, probably once a year when visiting the lake. I'm always interested in spending some money at local bike shops when I travel, and have never been able to bring myself to spend a dime with these assholes.
If you ever get some time off or that trust fund kicks in, come on out to Colorado. We'd love to show you some of our local trails and promptly bury you're little dick in the dirt.
We checked this place out while we stopped over on our way to Colorado, and the owner (didn't catch his name) recommended a local trail called Honey Run for us to try out. Great recommendation, and we had a great time! Where he earns our 5 stars is the fact that, after we finished our ride, we were rear-ended in the Hyvee parking lot with the bikes on the hitch rack.
We gave him a call and he offered to check over the bikes and the rack for damage. He did a very thorough check at the shop and fortunately the damage was very minor (misaligned handle bar stem, rack crossbars slid out of place) and he fixed us right up with an alan wrench and gave the bikes a clean bill of health.
I saw the young lady that was leaving as I was coming in the parking lot and asked her if the guy was an ass to her too, she had a pretty impressive story as well. Wouldn't rent to them, wouldn't give them any info.
After researching some of the Lake Ozark trails on mountain bike forums, it seemed unanimous that Oz was the place to get info and maps. I assumed they must have changed ownership, so headed that way. As I was walking in, a disgruntled young lady was walking out...interesting, more on that later. I approached the 40 something year old "stud" behind the counter and asked if there were any trails, (I think there's only 3 or 4) that I should avoid because of the rain last night. He told me, "they're all good, we don't really have top soil around here." Interesting, what a good ambassador for the sport and the local trail network. I then asked about the "bittersweet" trail, he told me he wasn't going to tell me about it, it didn't exist.
After we got her a bike I had my eye on a new mountain bike. I'm pretty short and the bike I wanted is pretty rare and so it had to be ordered, it was assembled the same day it came in. Perfectly adjusted, everything exactly as I had hoped. Just went out for a short ride and boy, Dan pointed me in exactly the right direction. I love the bike. More so than any bike I have had to date. Excellent service, excellent prices, and its a small business. The money you spend there stays in the community. What more can you ask?
Awesome experience, went in looking for a bike for my wife. We were immediately shown several options and we discussed the pros and cons of each. He never once pushed us to buy the most expensive bike, just gave us several options and let my wife ride them and decide for herself what fit the best. We ended up settling on a middle of the road treck and she is absolutely thrilled to go riding now.
